“Can easily push dele and erisken”, “Just as good as Mahrez” Tottenham fans lose the plot after French attacker’s dazzling display

It is very clear Tottenham Hotspur need a couple of fresh faces in this transfer window to revitalise the squad as well as boost the club’s chances of a top-four finish. Mauricio Pochettino looks keen to bolster the squad but is unable to spend sky-high, given our club’s tight financial structure.

However, as far as the speculations are concerned, the North Londoners are linked with a move for Bordeaux forward Malcom, while winger Lucas Moura, having slipped down the pecking order at Paris Saint-Germain this season, is also reportedly being chased.

Pochettino let Georges-Kevin Nkoudou join Burnley on a half-season loan; so signing a wide player certainly makes sense for the club. It is highly unlikely to see us sign a star name in the January transfer window. However, if at all Poch looks to sign one, it should be a winger.

But our fanbase are more keen on a certain No.10 in France and are a bit surprised as to why he isn’t on our target list.

Spurs fans are talking about Lyon skipper Nabil Fekir, who guided the club to a 2-1 victory over league leaders Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday at the Groupama Stadium. Fekir, 24, opened the scoring within two minutes, with a wonderful free-kick, before Layvin Kurzawa equalised for PSG with a thumping volley.

But Dani Alves’ red card made things harder for PSG, who eventually succumbed to a late Memphis Depay scorcher. Speaking about Fekir, the attacker leads the way for Lyon in terms of Ligue 1 goals this season with 16 in 19 appearances – an outstanding tally for a player who is by no means a centre-forward.

The French international’s versatility this season has been invaluable. At times, he has played as a central midfielder, on the wing and even as a ‘false 9’ occasionally, to good effect as well.

Fekir has been linked with Arsenal and Barcelona in the past, but Spurs supporters seem keen on seeing him at Tottenham.

Here is how some Spurs fans reacted on Twitter after Fekir’s dazzling showing saw Lyon beat PSG 2-1.
