Tottenham unwilling to match £35million asking price for £75,000-a-week attacker – reports

Tottenham are looking to add more quality to their side and are targeting Lucas Moura from PSG, according to reports from the Evening Standard.

The Brazilian, who was once rated as the brightest talent in the world, has not had his way with the Ligue 1 giants and needs to play regularly in order to make it to the Brazil squad for the upcoming World Cup in 2018. Moura has made only 6 appearances, all as substitutes for PSG, and has had to give up his place to the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, who have been putting in a number of quality performances for the Ligue 1 leaders.

The major problem in signing the £75,000-a-week earner is PSG’s valuation of the player. PSG want close to £35million for the 25-year-old but it looks like we are not ready to pay that sum.

Even Moura’s manager has spoken about him leaving the side for more football.

“I spoke with Lucas. With all respect, I think he has no other options here and should look for another club, because he’s a great player,” Emery said.

We do face some competition for the signing of the Brazilian as Manchester United want to get the player but it seems more likely that we should be in the driving seat, at least for a loan deal, as Moura will be desperate to gain more playing time under his belt

A Quality Player Pegged Down Due To Competition

Moura was one of the best players for PSG before the crazy signings they started to make at the start of last season. The Brazilian can play in a number of attacking positions and would be a great option to have in our side as we look to cement a top-4 position and also win a trophy this season.

The problem lies with PSG wanting to balance the books and a loan deal should suffice but the French side want to get rid of the player fast and it will be interesting to see if we stump up the amount wanted by PSG.

There are not many players who are available in the winter window with the quality that Moura possesses and with him having a point to prove to PSG, he could be a good signing for us. But we have seen a number of big money flops coming to Spurs and hopefully, Moura will not be another one.

  1. This is because Levy knows that PSG want to sell but it will bite us I the arse because PSG don’t NEED to sell. We need someone with lace and creativity, if Levy loses out on signing someone this window because he wants to save a bit of money I will be angry, he always misses out on decent opportunities to strengthen the team when we most need it and it has cost us imo.
