Tottenham complete key deals for promising young teenage English duo

Tashan Oakley-Boothe

Tottenham have tied down the likes of Samuel Shashoua and Tashan Oakley-Boothe to new contracts until 2020 and 2021 respectively, the club has officially confirmed.

Tashan has already featured for Tottenham’s first-team, having received the nod in all three matches of the club’s 2017 pre-season tour of the USA before getting a slot in a 1-0 Carabao Cup win over Barnsley in September 2017, replacing Dele Alli in the added time.

Samuel Shashoua, on the other hand, is yet to feature for the first-team but his performances with the club’s Under-23s have earned some brilliant reviews.

Samuel Shashoua

The Lambeth born Tashan has represented England from their U16 ranks to U18, while as things stand for Samuel, he has been capped by England U18s. Besides being a Tottenham academy product, Shashoua was an Under-12s county champion at squash and represented the South of England Under-16s at hockey.

Back during the January transfer window, Samuel Shashoua was linked with a loan move to an MLS club but the club’s hierarchy eventually decided he would stay put and continue his development within their ranks.

So while Tashan has already got some first-team minutes under his belt, Samuel came close as well. Thanks to his amazing showing through the ranks, he was awarded a place in the first-team bench for the first time, in the 6-1 win at Leicester City back in May 2017. However, it wasn’t his big day it seemed.

It is encouraging to see the club tie young players down to new contracts. We have had a lot of youngsters make the step to the first-team and there’s nothing healthier for the club than the youngsters making the cut to feature for the senior team.

Let’s wish Samuel Shashoua and Tashan Oakley-Boothe all the very best for their future at Tottenham.
