Tanguy Ndombele is subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs and Paris United (h/t football.london) claims that Tottenham made a bid of £40million a few weeks back for the 21-year-old French midfielder.

Ndombele spent last season on loan at Lyon from Amiens and had agreed to terms with Lyon when he made the switch. However, the Ligue 1 club want to keep the star midfielder at the club and are willing to offer him an improved contract.

Even with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and the Manchester clubs interested in Ndombele, it is only us who have made a bid for one of the most impressive performers in the French league last season.

It seems likely that Amiens would want to get as much as they can for Ndombele and with Tottenham willing to bid £40million reportedly, the price could go higher if the Ligue 1 club plays its cards right.

Tottenham don’t have the best record when it comes to signing players from France but it does seem like Ndombele is the real deal given how many clubs are tracking the 21-year-old.

The Frenchman could be an ideal replacement for Mousa Dembele should the Belgian leave the club in the summer window.

Ndombele played 50 games last season for Amiens and Lyon, and only made 9 substitute appearances.

He could be a decent signing for us given our need for a quality defensive midfielder but if we end up paying a crazy amount for the 21-year-old, many questions will be raised about our decision to spend big on someone who has had just one decent season.
