Pochettino provides update on Tottenham duo that was substituted against Newcastle

published :

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that Lucas Moura and Eric Dier have not picked up injuries after the pair was substituted in our opening day win over Newcastle United.

A report from Football.london claims that Moura was seen with an ice bag against his groin while Dier came off in the final minutes at St. James’ Park with a limp.

However, the Argentine was asked about the injuries to the two players and was quoted by Football.london as saying:

“No, no they are ok. I hope that Monday they will start to train with the team. Eric Dier was so tired. He felt in the end cramp, but Lucas nothing.”

The boss also added that he would be looking to rotate the side in the coming weeks.

“I think it was very good competition today with a big squad. Massive competition between them and I’m going to rotate in the next few weeks, trying to give the possibility to all the players to play and be important.”

Tottenham came away with all three points against Newcastle, thanks to goals from Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli.

The next fixture for us would be a London derby against Fulham and Pochettino would expect all three points against the newly promoted side too.

We should have all our players fit for the clash against the Cottagers and with all of the big guns starting the season with a win, it is imperative that we continue our winning ways.
