Turkish giants Fenerbahce have denied reports linking them with a move for Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko, according to Sky Sports.
Reports had suggested that the Turkish club were looking to sign the midfielder on loan.
However, Fenerbahce released a statement (h/t Sky Sports) on Tuesday, claiming they are not interested in the 30-year-old.
“In the public opinion, the news that we are attempting to transfer Moussa Sissoko … does not reflect the truth.
“Regarding a transfer of Moussa Sissoko to our club, there has been no contact with the player, the manager or the club.”
The midfielder started our first game of the season against Newcastle United but was missing from the squad that defeated Manchester United 3-0 on Monday night.
Sissoko had joined us from Newcastle in 2016 but has been unable to enforce himself as a regular at the club. The 30-year-old still has three years left on his deal, as per Sky Sports, and Spurs had paid £30m for the Frenchman.
The former Newcastle man could be a useful player for us in the coming months as we haven’t added any players to the squad in the summer window.
The 30-year-old can play either as a winger or in central midfield and could be utilized in some of our cup games.
It would have been great to sell Sissoko in the transfer window but unless things change, he might remain at Spurs for a little longer.
