Harry Kane has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur want to create their own history after the 3-0 drubbing of Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Englishman opened the scoring for Spurs before a Lucas Moura double sealed the impressive win over our rivals.
Kane challenged the team to battle for titles and believed that the other clubs should be at their best too.
The England captain was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying:
“We’re trying to create our own history. At Spurs, we’ve not been a club who have been at the top of the league year on year so we have to be up there and keep challenging for titles. For us as players we’ve got that drive and hunger to take the club to the next level.
“People will be talking about Liverpool and those kind of teams and but they will have to put their money where their mouth is.”
The forward added that the team wanted to start the season well and winning at Old Trafford was a big statement of intent.
Tottenham have grown leaps and bounds under Mauricio Pochettino, finishing in the top three in the past two seasons. We are now a Champions League regular and the next step is to win a trophy.
The Spurs man praised Moura after his brace at the Theatre of Dreams. Kane added that the Brazilian had been great, especially at pressing, which the rest of the team likes to do.
Tottenham’s win should maintain the pressure on our rivals after the opening three fixtures and we must challenge for the Premier League title this season.
