Tottenham Hotspur suffered a big blow in their Premier League title hopes after a loss against Watford. Mauricio Pochettino’s men won their first three games of the campaign but were undone by a gutsy Hornets side.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Watford have won their first four games and lead the table but Dele Alli believes Spurs can still challenge for the crown.
The 22-year-old was quoted by the Evening Standard (h/t Express) saying:
“No matter what people are talking about, we have belief in ourselves.
“There are some great sides out there, but we have to focus on us. We don’t worry about what anyone else says.
“We’ll keep trying to get as many points as we can and if nobody else is talking about us as title contenders, it doesn’t bother me.”
The Englishman further spoke about us winning at Old Trafford and called it a “statement”.
“It is a statement that we can win at places like United. We had belief we could do it. Sometimes it doesn’t go your way or something happens.”
Alli added that the team has to move forward and improve in training too. The Englishman was correct in claiming that beating United was huge but we have to be more consistent.
Fortunately, the season is only four games old and three points aren’t that big a gap to make up for the rest of the season.

Alli hasn’t been in great form so far but the Englishman has time to find his mojo and facing Liverpool after the international break will be a great test for our title credentials.
