Tottenham are trying hard to tie Christian Eriksen down to a new deal, according to Mauricio Pochettino.
The Dane hasn’t extended current contract at the club despite Pochettino, Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min committing their futures at Spurs.
Pochettino was speaking ahead of the London derby against Chelsea, and was quoted by the Daily Star saying:
“He knows, and we know what we are doing.
“We are working so hard. The club is trying to take the best decision. Christian will take the best decision.”
The Argentine claimed he wasn’t worried about the situation but wanted the Dane to sign a deal soon.
“I am not worried but I prefer he is going to sign a new contract and stay a long time with Tottenham.”
Eriksen has been one of our most creative players and we shouldn’t even have to think about extending his contract as he is one of the best in the league.
It is a little concerning why we haven’t finalised a deal yet, however, we got Kane, Alli and even the gaffer to sign a new contract, so there is a bit of confidence that the management can get the deal done.
The Dane has had a stop-start season with an abdominal injury but he is back to full fitness and could play a huge rule in our upcoming run.
Our next game is against Chelsea, and Eriksen could perform some magic at Wembley on Saturday.
