Harry Kane believes Tottenham can turn their new stadium into another Anfield and wants to play Champions League football there.
The Mirror reports that Spurs have a race on their hands to get the stadium ready for the knockout stage of the Champions League, which is scheduled in mid-February.
Tottenham needed to work hard to qualify for the knockout round of this season’s competition. The team battled to a 1-1 draw against Barcelona but Kane believes the new stadium will give them a lift (h/t Mirror):
“It would be incredible, something special, Champions League games in the new stadium.
“We’ve got to try and create that atmosphere. Everyone knows Anfield’s been fantastic for that. They’ve pulled out some great comebacks and results there and I’m sure that’s what we’re going to have to do to progress in this competition.”
The striker added that every game would be difficult but the team and the fans had to keep the faith in the current side.
The report adds that the UEFA has set a February deadline for Tottenham to get the stadium ready. The football body would be reluctant to allow a switch of venues in between the knockout phase of the competition.
