Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has claimed that the Premier League defeat against Arsenal has given us more motivation ahead of the Carabao Cup clash in midweek at the Emirates.

Spurs were looking good for a win against our rivals while we were leading 2-1 a few weeks ago, but the Gunners turned things around and ended up winning 4-2.

Tottenham have recovered from that blip and qualified for the next round of the Champions League. We have been great in the league too picking up wins over Leicester City, Southampton and Burnley.

The Carabao Cup is a great chance of lifting a trophy and Lloris was ready for the clash (h/t ESPN):

“Maybe the good thing is, because we lost the Premier League game a few weeks ago, it’s even a little bit more motivation for us.

“There’s no more bad feeling than when you get a defeat. You always try to analyse and make things we will not repeat again. It’s another opportunity, and we will do our best to go through.”

The captain added that the 4-2 loss hurt us, and even though Arsenal are a difficult side to face, we have the quality to get the win.

Lloris claimed that we should not take the competition lightly as this is a great chance of making it to the finals of the competition, and the derby makes it easy for the players to prepare.

Tottenham haven’t won a trophy under Mauricio Pochettino, but we seem to have turned a corner after the Champions League win over PSV Eindhoven.

The loss to Arsenal hurt, and a midweek win would be the perfect response to the defeat from our rivals.
