Arsenal boss Unai Emery had conceded that Tottenham are better than the Gunners.
The pair met today but the result was the exact opposite of what the Spaniard said. His team got the better of Mauricio Pochettino’s men 4-2 at the Emirates.
Talking about the previous seasons, the Gunners had finished above us for 23 years but that was changed under Mauricio Pochettino, first in 2015/16 season. The Argentine has transformed us into a top four side and Emery touched spoke about the history of the Gunners getting the better of us (h/t Sky Sports).
“At the moment, Tottenham is better than us in the table and better than us last year but in history Arsenal is better at other moments than Tottenham.
“I think we are going to live with two (sets of) supporters and I think it will be a very good atmosphere.”
While Emery was on full praise about his fellow Premier League manager, Pochetinno had another go at the club’s hierarchy for lack of support from them ahead of the January transfer window.
The Spaniard also spoke about the Emirates giving the Gunners a bit of a lift. However, we came into the tie on the back of a couple of fantastic results.
We defeated Chelsea 3-1 in another derby a week ago, and then beat Inter Milan in a do-or-die Champions League tie. However, this defeat will be hard to take.
