Mauricio Pochettino is contemplating playing Dele Alli as the False 9 against Fulham on Sunday, according to the Guardian.

Tottenham are without Son Heung-min who has travelled for the Asian Cup and Harry Kane is out for a couple of months after injuring his ankle against Manchester United.

Spurs could also play Fernando Llorente as the striker on Sunday, but the Spaniard has only made one league start in 18 months at the club.

The report adds that Pochettino got the idea for Alli after watching Lionel Messi play in the False 9 role against Levante.

“I was watching Barcelona and the striker was Leo Messi.

“You can play Llorente, Dele Alli, Lamela; you can play Kaziah Sterling, Troy Parrott, I don’t know. It’s not that you have to play with one specific striker. We are so crazy, the managers, that sometimes we decide to do something different.”

The manager added that the objective for the club was to find the next big star from within, something they had achieved with regards to Alli and Kane.

Tottenham could name some youngsters on the bench due to injuries. Moussa Sissoko and Lucas Moura are also doubts for the game against Fulham, and it will be interesting to see how we line-up to face the Cottagers.

Alli could do a decent job as the forward and we would need to change our game plan to take advantage of Llorente’s heading ability.

Tottenham have to get back to winning ways on Sunday, and it is a bit of a boost that we are playing Fulham at the weekend, who are struggling for wins this season.
