Mauricio Pochettino has ruled out any move for former Villarreal and Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi.

The Italian was linked with Tottenham after Harry Kane’s ankle injury, but Pochettino claimed the player joining Spurs is just a “rumour” (h/t Sky Sports):

“There are many names that appear in every transfer window.

“I think he is another name to add on the list but it is only a rumour. We have not considered him.”

The Italian striker is training with United as he tries to return to match fitness after struggling with injuries in recent years.

Pochettino was further asked if there was any truth to the rumours of us moving for Rossi, but the manager shot those down instantly:

“It’s a rumour like another but if you ask me, I think no, it’s not a possibility.”

The manager claimed that Kane was doing well as he recovers from ankle ligament damage against Manchester United but was quick to add that we have enough cover to deal with the injury.

“We are in the same way positive that we can cope with the situation. We have enough players to cover that place and it will not change our approach.”

Spurs face further problems regarding the starting XI with Son Heung-min away on international duty and Moussa Sissoko also picking up an injury in the loss to Manchester United.

We could play Fernando Llorente as the striker in place of Kane, but the Spaniard has failed to perform in the Premier League with Spurs.

Tottenham face a relatively less strenuous game against Fulham at the weekend, and hopefully, we return to winning ways against Claudio Ranieri’s men.
