Former Tottenham star Chris Waddle believes Mauricio Pochettino will spend £80m (h/t Express) once the stadium construction is completed. Tottenham were the only club not to sign any players in the summer, and are unlikely to bring any fresh faces in the winter window too.

The former Spurs player believes Levy will provide the funds to the Argentine once the stadium is complete. Waddle was speaking to Sportingbet (h/t Express) and believed Spurs could spend similar to the current Premier League top two:

“I think Daniel Levy will give Pochettino the spending power of Man City and Liverpool once they move in to the new stadium.

“Daniel Levy will have promised Pochettino that. I expect Tottenham to soon be making £80m signings that can push them to the next level.”

Waddle added that Tottenham would not have any excuses to not spend once the new stadium is ready. The stadium opening has been delayed several times this season, and we were expected to play our first game at the venue in September.

However, there is no confirmation as to when the venue will be complete, with Spurs sticking to Wembley until February at least.

Pochettino has done a brilliant job with the current crop of players, and we have a real chance of finishing second after Manchester City’s shock defeat at the hands of Newcastle.

However, we cannot continue playing the same side next season too. All our Premier League rivals will strengthen themselves once again, and if we are to challenge for the top honours, we have to sign some quality players.
