Tottenham are considering a bid of £35m for West Ham’s rising talent Declan Rice, according to the Express. The 20-year-old midfielder has impressed under Manuel Pellegrini this season and has been ever-present in the Hammers starting XI.

Rice even scored the winner for the Hammers when they beat Arsenal a few weeks ago. The report adds that Liverpool are also interested in the English midfielder who signed a new deal that keeps him at West Ham until 2024.

Tottenham have kept tabs on the Englishman in the past, and the report claims we could bid for him in the summer window. Rice would be an excellent signing under Mauricio Pochettino given the manager’s ability to develop young talents.

Spurs need to bring some new faces into the team and the Englishman would add more quality to the midfield. We sold Mousa Dembele in the January window and Victor Wanyama has struggled for fitness this season.

The English midfielder would provide competition for the likes of Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko. It will be interesting to see what our activity is in the summer transfer window given our lack of signings in the previous two windows.

Tottenham need to bring some British talent into the club to keep our home-grown numbers high, and this would be helped if we sign Rice.
