Latest Spurs news: Sheringham believes stadium will turn into fortress soon

Tottenham are set to play their first game at the new stadium in a week’s time when we face Crystal Palace.

The club have already hosted one test event with an U18 game, and another one is in line this weekend.

Teddy Sheringham, a former Tottenham striker, believes the stadium will turn into a fortress soon and has warned the club about getting acclimatised soon.

Sky Sports quoted the former striker as saying:

“In the long run, when it’s our home, I think it can be a real fortress. And if the quicker we get accustomed to that, the better, for the players.

Sheringham also claimed moving into the stadium this late in the season would work in our favour.

“That’s why I think it’s good for them to be playing at the end of this season, so that you can feel like you’re going into a new season next year, really understanding what the new stadium is like and what it’s all about.”

Tottenham need to get the wins fast

Tottenham made White Hart Lane one tough place to visit for teams and we need to do that quickly at our new home too.

Arsenal had their problems when they shifted from Highbury to the Emirates, and hopefully, we can avoid a similar story.

Tottenham don’t have a lot of time on their hands to get the wins in. We are in a battle for a top-four spot and lie just one point ahead of Manchester United in fourth.

Arsenal and Chelsea are also in the race for the Champions League spot, and we cannot afford to drop silly points at this stage of the campaign.

Our next game is a tough one against Liverpool but all eyes will be on our new stadium too, as the countdown begins to Spurs returning home.
