Spurs transfer news: Tottenham back out of race to sign Bruno Fernandes

The Daily Mail reports that Tottenham have backed out of signing Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese midfielder enjoyed a stellar campaign for club and country. Fernandes bagged 28 goals in three competitions while he helped the national team win the inaugural Nations League.

The 24-year-old broke into the national team thanks to his performances with Sporting, and the report claims that his club wants £50million for the midfielder.

The report adds that several Premier League clubs have contacted Sporting over Fernandes’ availability, however, Liverpool and Manchester City have also ruled out signing the midfielder.

Manchester United could sign the 24-year-old as they look to rebuild under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (h/t Daily Mail).

Fernandes’s versatility enables him to play in several positions. The Portugal international started some games as a left-winger while he even played a few times as a defensive midfielder.

Tottenham could have done with an attacking player joining the club, however, Fernandes is a bit of a risk with his price-tag.

Spurs have a list of targets

Tottenham cannot have another transfer window with no incomings. The Guardian reports that Mauricio Pochettino has handed Daniel Levy a list of summer targets.

The four names that have been highlighted in the report are Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon, Nicolo Zaniolo and Donny van de Beek.

All four could improve the current team, and the quartet will develop further given that they are 22 or younger.
