Spurs transfer news: Tottenham interested in Alexander Nubel of Schalke

The Sun reports that Tottenham are interested in Germany’s U21 goalkeeper Alexander Nubel.

The Schalke star is away on international duty at the U21 Euros and has helped his side remain unbeaten after four games.

The Germans are through to the semi-finals of the tournament, and the report claims that he is being touted as the next Manuel Neuer, who also made a name for himself at the Royal Blues before joining Bayern Munich.

The 22-year-old Nubel played 22 games for Schalke last season and finished the campaign strongly.

The report adds that Nubel has caught the attention of Paris Saint-Germain while Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are also interested in the 22-year-old.

Nubel is one of the brightest talents in the Bundesliga, and it is interesting seeing us linked with the German.

Michel Vorm says bye to Spurs

Michel Vorm posted an emotional message on Twitter earlier this month confirming he would leave Spurs.

That would leave just captain Hugo Lloris and Paulo Gazzaniga as the first-team keepers for the next campaign.

Nubel could be seen as a replacement for Lloris, but the Spurs captain still has a few years left in him.

The 22-year-old is another top German keeper coming through the Bundesliga, however, we don’t need him at the moment, unless we plan to sell either Lloris or Gazzaniga.
