Spurs transfer news: Tottenham had bid for Camavinga in the summer
Eduardo Camavinga broke into the Rennes team last season and put up an excellent performance against Paris Saint-Germain recently.
The 16-year-old assisted the winner against the Ligue 1 giants and dominated the midfield throughout the game.
French reports claimed several clubs had submitted offers to Rennes for the highly-rated star, but the Ligue 1 club rejected them all (h/t Express).
Tottenham are also one of the clubs who bid for the midfielder, and L’Equipe (h/t Express) shed more light on what the deal could have been.
The report claims that any deal for Camavinga would have included a two-year loan spell at Rennes.
The other clubs interested in the 16-year-old are our London rivals Arsenal, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich (h/t Express).
Real Madrid and Barcelona are also interested in the Angola-born midfielder, according to the report, and Rennes want to keep hold of their rising star for a while.
Camavinga – a star for the future
It is surprising to see a 16-year-old do well against the might of PSG but the youngster has to keep performing at this high level for the remainder of the season.
Should Camavinga continue to do well, a move from a top club would make sense. Mauricio Pochettino is one of the best when it comes to working with young talents and could take the 16-year-old to the next level.

Sending Camavinga back on loan to Rennes makes sense as he could develop at a known club, and that is something we have done this summer by signing Jack Clarke and letting him stay at Leeds for a season.
