Tottenham could move for Francisco Ferro in the January window
The Sun reports that Tottenham could be eyeing Portuguese star Francisco Ferro in the winter window.
The 22-year-old Benfica star was only promoted to the senior side in February and has been one of the most impressive players for the Portuguese side.
The report adds that Ferro is rated at £85million and Spurs are desperate in their search for a centre-back.
Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are free agents at the end of the season, and Tottenham have had their defensive issues this campaign too.
Spurs need another centre-back soon
Tottenham have had their injury problems this season and haven’t seen Juan Foyth feature since pre-season.
Davinson Sanchez has had his injury issues too while Kyle Walker-Peters and Ryan Sessegnon are nursing hamstring problems.
Ferro is only 22 but could be a smart signing for the future. Spurs have Foyth and Sanchez, who could form a part of the defence should Vertonghen or Alderweireld leave next summer.
However, spending £85million on Ferro seems to be a bit of a stretch, and it will be interesting to see if we make a move for him in the winter window. Our defence has been a little leaky this season and we could do with someone tightening up things at the back.
