Newcastle enter the race for Tottenham-linked Ugurcan Cakir
Newcastle United are interested in Trabzonspor keeper Ugurcan Cakir, according to Turkish outlet 61 Saat (h/t Sun).
The Turkish international has been one of the most impressive keepers in the league and has been linked to Tottenham as well. Cakir could cost around £17million and has also been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool (h/t Sun).
Tottenham have had a bit of a goalkeeping crisis at the moment with Hugo Lloris’ injury. The captain dislocated his elbow against Brighton and is out till 2020. Paulo Gazzaniga should replace him in the first-team and impressed last season when he got a run of games.
Do Spurs need a new No.1?
Lloris is still one of the best in the league but age is catching up with the captain. The 32-year-old has a tendency to make mistakes, but his experience is a bonus for this Tottenham side.
It will be interesting to see how well Lloris recovers from the problem, and should the Frenchman not come back 100%, we could be in the market for another top quality keeper.

Gazzaniga can stake a claim for the No.1 spot over the coming months. Hopefully, he performs well in the absence of Lloris, and we don’t have to spend big in the summer for a new keeper.
