Jamie Carragher tells Christian Eriksen to forget about Real Madrid move

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has told Christian Eriksen to forget about joining Real Madrid.

The Dane is a free agent at the end of the season and had spoken about playing for Real in the summer. However, the midfielder couldn’t seal an exit from the club and has been below par for most of the season.

The 27-year-old put up another poor performance in the loss to Liverpool, and Carragher highlighted that clubs only want him on a free transfer (h/t Mirror):

“Eriksen for me is a really good player for Tottenham, but he keeps getting talked about as this player who could play for Real Madrid. He’s not good enough.

“If he’s that good, he’s got a year to go in his contract, you’d pay money for him. People keep saying maybe on a free transfer… you’d have anyone on a free transfer.

“This summer he wanted to go, he made it known, he said it publicly, and no one came in for him.”

Carra went on to say that Eriksen has been “fantastic” for Tottenham and he could go to another club. However, the Dane would not make the other side any better.

Tough situation for Eriksen

The Dane’s performances aren’t improving one bit and it will be interesting to see what happens with him in the coming weeks.

Selling him in January would be the best option for Tottenham, however, that also depends on the Dane wanting to leave. The 27-year-old was anonymous in the loss to the Reds and he needs to pick up the slack quickly.
