Tottenham to battle Arsenal for Alex Grimaldo’s signature
Alex Grimaldo is one of the best players in the Portuguese league and there seems to be ample interest in the Spaniard from London.
The Sun reports that Tottenham are interested in the 24-year-old while Arsenal have also scouted the left-back. The pair are set to battle it out for the full-back, who is rated at £34m, according to the report.
Grimaldo already has four assists to his name from nine league games this season. The Spaniard has also featured in three Champions League games for Benfica.
Do Tottenham need another left-back?
Tottenham signed Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham in the summer, however, the Englishman hasn’t featured for us due to injuries. The English youngster can play as a left-back but Spurs have two senior options in the team.
Danny Rose continues to be the first-choice while Ben Davies provides adequate cover for the Englishman.
However, Rose’s long-term future is uncertain and he has also struggled for form this season, like most players at Spurs.
Grimaldo could do a great job under Mauricio Pochettino, thanks to his attacking abilities. That said, Spurs must get rid of at least one left-back in the coming transfer window before signing him.
