Tottenham interested in January deal for Ajax’s Noussair Mazraoui
Tottenham are interested in Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui, according to reports from Italy.
The 21-year-old Moroccan can play on either side of the defence and has 12 games to his name this season.
Mazraoui prefers playing as the right-back and Calciomercato claims that Mauricio Pochettino wants to add more options in that position.
Football Espana also carries a report suggesting that Spurs and Leicester are interested in the defender while Valencia and AS Roma are also keen on the Ajax star.
Spurs need options at the back
Mazraoui would be a decent signing for Spurs and it will be interesting to see if we move for him in January. Tottenham need some cover for the right-back position, with Serge Aurier struggling for form and also with injuries.
Kyle Walker-Peters has spent most of the season injured while the situation with the left-backs isn’t great either. Danny Rose has been out of form for most of the campaign while Ryan Sessegnon has been injured since joining from Fulham.
Ben Davies is our other senior left-back, but the Welshman is behind Rose in the pecking order. Pochettino could use Mazraoui in the team thanks to his versatility, and we have a history of signing Ajax players.
