Tottenham likely to land Barcelona’s Carles Alena on loan
Tottenham are expected to sign Barcelona’s Carles Alena in the winter window on loan, according to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Calciomercato).
The 21-year-old is one of the brightest talents at the Catalan club but has struggled for game time this season. Alena has featured in five Copa del Rey games but has just 46 minutes of La Liga football under his belt.
The Spaniard broke into the first-team last season but is unhappy at the lack of playing time this season (h/t Calciomercato).
Tottenham were linked with Alena in the past, and the report claims that Spurs will land the starlet in the January window.
A fresh face for the midfield?
Tottenham signed a couple of midfielders in the summer, who have struggled at the club. Tanguy Ndombele started the season well but hasn’t been able to kick on after a couple of fantastic performances.
Giovani Lo Celso has struggled for regular minutes due to injuries but came off the bench in our 1-1 draw at Everton. The pair should be able to turn things around for us in the coming weeks, but Spurs could do with another young midfielder.
Christian Eriksen has just one goal to his name this season while Dele Alli has just two to his name. Alena isn’t someone associated with goals, as he only racked up two for Barcelona in the previous La Liga campaign.
