Darren Bent believes Tottenham could be a destination for Xherdan Shaqiri

Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent believes that Spurs could be interested in Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Liverpool winger has struggled with injuries and regular playing time since joining from Stoke City.

Shaqiri has only made three substitute appearances for the Reds this season but helped them win the Champions League in the previous campaign.

The 28-year-old has won multiple titles with Inter Milan and Bayern Munich too. However, Shaqiri is currently out with an injury and hasn’t played since mid-September.

Bent was speaking to Football Insider and claimed that Arsenal could also be keen on the Swiss (h/t Express):

“I think Arsenal would probably take him, Manchester City nope, Chelsea nope, Spurs may potentially take him as well.

“I think there will be no shortage of takers so he has nothing to fear about that.”

Shaqiri also spoke out about playing more in a recent interview with Schweizer Illustrierte (h/t Express).

However, the Swiss international claimed he was ready to wait for his chance given the strength of the side.

Tottenham could do with another attacker

Spurs have struggled for consistent performances this season, and landing Shaqiri wouldn’t be a bad move.

The Swiss can play as an attacking midfielder or on either wing, and would provide another option for Mauricio Pochettino.

It will be interesting to see if we make a move in the winter window or if Liverpool plan to sell any of their stars.

The Reds are in a great position at the moment, but we need to sort ourselves out and try to finish in the top four at least.
