Inter Milan see Jan Vertonghen as Milan Skriniar’s replacement
Italian giants Inter Milan see Jan Vertonghen as a replacement for Milan Skriniar, according to Tuttosport (h/t Calciomercato).
The 24-year-old Skriniar is a target for Barcelona and has struggled in Antonio Conte’s three-man defence this season (h/t Calciomercato).
Inter are vying for the Serie A title with Juventus and lie one point behind their rivals. The report adds that they don’t want to lose Skriniar but will listen to offers for the centre-back.
Should the Slovakian leave, the Serie A giants will try to sign Jan Vertonghen (h/t Calciomercato).
The Belgian is a free agent at the end of the season and hasn’t been a regular starter under Mauricio Pochettino in the campaign.
The 32-year-old has featured in just six Premier League games this season but has played in three Champions League games.
The Belgian’s last game for us was the 5-0 home win over Red Star Belgrade nearly a month ago.
Vertonghen wasn’t even on the bench in our draw against Sheffield United, and it will be interesting to see what happens to him in the coming weeks.
Pochettino trying a different pair at the back
Toby Alderweireld is also a free agent at the end of the season, and he didn’t start against the Blades either.
Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez did the duties in the middle of the defence, and Pochettino will have to finalise his centre-back pairing for the rest of the season too.

The Argentine cannot chop and change constantly as that affects the chemistry in the team. Our next clash is a tough one against West Ham and we need to get the three points at the London Stadium.
