Tottenham to secure loan deal for this World Cup-winning winger

Tottenham are interested in Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Lemar

The 24-year-old’s move to Madrid has not gone according to plan with the Spanish side willing to part ways with the player if the right offer comes in.

Lemar has made 23 appearances for Atletico this season, 11 of which have come from the bench. He has however failed to perform, notching just 1 goal and 0 assists so far. (h/t Whoscored)

Tottenham are looking at the prospect of signing the player on a loan, with an option to buy. This makes sense given our lack of funds. (h/t Daily Mail)

Resumption of Hostilities?

Both Arsenal and Tottenham were interested in securing Lemar in 2017 when he was at Monaco. The player ultimately chose to move to Atletico the next summer.

The North London rivals are set to go head to head once again in the battle for the Frenchman’s signature.

With Spurs able to provide Champions League football and looking more likely of the duo to qualify for the competition the next year, it should give us an edge in convincing the player as he seeks to rebuild his reputation.

Tottenham’s inability to churn out results and the injury suffered to Harry Kane should give Tottenham enough impetus to get Lemar.

Spurs are currently 5 points off Chelsea in the race to fourth. With less than half a season remaining, the addition of Lemar could give us the inspiration that we seem to lack.

Lemar has 22 caps for the French national team and has scored 4 goals.
