Twitter reacts to Harry Kane being ruled out till March
In a major setback to Tottenham, star striker Harry Kane has been ruled out until March due to an injury. (h/t Guardian)
The striker limped off in the 1-0 loss to Southampton on New Year’s day in what looked to be a hamstring injury. Scans have revealed a serious tear and that is set to keep the English captain out of action for 2 months.
The club has not put a public time frame on Kane’s absence but the prognosis from the scans are grim and the outlook does not look promising.
Kane will miss crucial clashes against Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and is also in real danger of completely missing out the Champions League tie against Leipzig.
With Kane ruled out, Spurs face a crisis in the attack with no specialist senior striker available. Son Heung-Min and Lucas Moura will have to fill in, with Mourinho stating it’s too early to rely on the 17-year-old Troy Parrott.
Tottenham are 5 points off Chelsea in the race for the fourth spot. We need a strong second half of the season to stay in the fray as we chase Champions League qualification. Not qualifying for the competition the next season will seriously hamper our chances of signing top players in the summer rebuild.
Hopefully, Spurs act in the January transfer window to bring in a striker, with Lille’s Victor Osimhen and Dortmund’s Paco Alcacer both linked to North London in this window. The news of Kane’s injury was met with dismay by Tottenham fans, who have taken to Twitter to express their views.
