The youngster who made his Premier League debut against Liverpool last week has carried over his good form into the FA Cup replay against Middlesbrough. He was incisive and showed the maturity of a seasoned veteran in an assured display.
The 20-year-old who can play both at centre-back and right-back has been a bright spot in an otherwise unreliable defensive unit this season
The defender’s contract has been a talking point recently as the one-year deal he signed in the summer expires at the end of the season. It is believed that the Tottenham do have the option to extend his deal by an extra year.
With the club looking to tie down the player for the foreseeable future, his comments on staying at Tottenham for a long time will have gone well with the Spurs faithful.
“The club means a lot to me, having been with them for so long. Of course I’d love to stay with them as long as I could and go on until I retire.
The youngster put the ball in the club’s court and stated that he is committed to performing to the best of his ability.
“But that’s for the club to deal with me and for me to focus on the pitch and deliver as much as I possibly can.”
This should come as good news to Jose Mourinho who has been very vocal regarding the defender’s performances. With a defensive rebuild on the cards, the emergence of Tanganga will come as a blessing to the Portuguese manager.
