Twitter reacts to Giovani Lo Celso’s performance against Southampton

In another murky performance by Tottenham, the lone figure of Giovani Lo Celso shone bright. A frustrating night for Tottenham ensued as a spirited Southampton side fought back from a goal down to send the tie into a replay.

Spurs looked to have done enough only for Sofiane Boufal to equalize for the Saints in the 87th minute. The tie will now be played on 5th February at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Unfortunately for Spurs, it disrupts the club’s plans for a winter break from 2nd-15th February.

In a largely average display, Giovani Lo Celso stood head and shoulders above the rest and provided a promising display that has been some time in the making.

It is symbolic that the Argentine chose to showcase his talent on the day Tottenham accepted Inter Milan’s bid for Christian Eriksen (h/t BBC).

The highlight of the game has to be Lo Celso’s surging run to set up Son Heung-Min’s opener. The 23-year old drove forward from the midfield and dodged five Southampton players before squaring the ball to Son, who finished at the far corner.

The Argentine pulled another one out of the hat as he lobbed a delicious ball to Son soon after. However, the South Korean could only smash the ball over.

Tottenham fans were encouraged by Lo Celso’s showing and took to Twitter to lavish praises on the Argentine international.
