Three. That is the number of times, Jose Mourinho has faced off against Frank Lampard. It is also, unfortunately, the number of times Lampard has defeated Mourinho.

The Chelsea boss also becomes the first manager to do a double over the Portuguese in the English Premier League. In a disappointing performance by Tottenham, Lampard’s Chelsea completed their first double over us in the league for fourteen years. The result leaves us four points below the Blues.

Oliver Giroud capped off a rare start with his first goal of the season before Marcos Alonso scored from distance in the second half. Tottenham was without their two top scorers and the lack of tooth in the attack showed.

Players such as Giovani Lo Celso and Steven Bergwijn were invisible and failed to create any positive impact on the match. Spurs only came to life following Erik Lamela’s introduction.

The 27-year-old came on for Tanguy Ndombele in the second half and it was his run late on that halved Spurs’ deficit. A purposeful run into the box was followed by a cutback that bounced off Antonio Rudiger to creep into the Chelsea net.

It gave hope to a disappointing Tottenham side and set up a nervy finish for the Blues faithful. A number of Tottenham fans took to twitter to praise Lamela for his cameo. We take a look at a few of them below.
