Tottenham could make a summer move for Edin Julardzija
Tottenham Hotspur are interested in 19-year-old Croatian starlet Edin Julardzija. The club could make a move in the summer for the Dinamo Zagreb midfielder, according to Sassuolo (h/t Football.London).
Having come up through the youth ranks, Julardzija made his debut for the Zagreb Reserves in the second tier of Croatian football in 2019. He is yet to add to the 15 minutes of playtime he received that day in the 2-0 victory over NK Lucko (h/t Transfermarkt)
The youngster has predominantly played in the club’s Under 19 team and has made 11 appearances in the UEFA Youth League.
He made six appearances in the competition last season. Zagreb made it all the way to the quarter-finals where they lost to eventual runner-up Chelsea on penalties. Julardziga played 79 minutes on the night and also got an assist as the game ended 2-2 prior to the shootout.
He also played in the round of 16 clash against Liverpool which his side won 5-4 on penalties.
The 19-year-old has experienced considerably lesser minutes on the pitch this season. He has so far made just five appearances in the competition. Zagreb finished second in Group C ahead of Manchester City and made it to the round of 16 courtesy of beating Dynamo Kyiv in the play-offs.
They will now face Bayern Munich with another potential clash with Liverpool waiting in the quarter-finals.
Tottenham will do well to invest in youth as we aim to rebuild our team for the new decade. A tally of just one assist in eleven appearances is a poor return for an attacking midfielder. The fact that he has played roughly half the minutes he received last season is also a matter of discussion, considering there is no record of any injuries sustained. (h/t Transfermarkt)
