Bolton loanee Anthony Georgiou waiting for Tottenham sign off

Anthony Georgiou is waiting for a final sign off from Tottenham before linking up with League One side Bolton Wanderers on loan, according to the Bolton News.

The 23-year-old was injured earlier this month, necessitating Tottenham to give the all-clear signal for him to travel to Bolton. Georgiou met up with Bolton manager Keith Hill and his teammates at MK Dons last weekend with the move set to happen sometime in the coming week (h/t Bolton News).

Hill confirmed that the club are just following the process that Tottenham wanted, as per Bolton News. He further went on to say that despite the injury, the signing is risk-free (h/t Bolton News).

Georgiou came through the youth ranks at Watford, before joining Tottenham in 2013. He has made one senior appearance for Spurs, coming on as a substitute in the UEFA Champions League victory over APOEL in 2017.

The 23-year-old has already had two loan spells in the past year. He initially spent the first half of the year at Spanish Segunda side Levante making 11 appearances before returning to sign an extension with Spurs in August. He then went for another loan spell at League One side Ipswich Town where he made 13 appearances, notably none as a starter.

No-risk signing

Keith Hill admitted that signing the player did not take the club up to their embargo quota. He revealed that they had a slot left which makes it a risk-free signing for both the Wanderers and Tottenham.

The Bolton boss confirmed that the club knew what they were getting into signing an injured player and the move will turn out to be a pleasant surprise. He also reiterated the player’s enthusiasm on making the move.

“We know the player and he wants to be here. That is 100 percent guaranteed.”
