Tottenham to battle Manchester United for Emil Forsberg
Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho is keen on signing Bundesliga winger Emil Forsberg in the summer transfer window, according to Swedish publication Expressen (h/t Express).
Primarily a left-winger, Forsberg is capable of playing centrally and also on the other wing. A key player for RB Leipzig, the Swede has made 165 appearances for the Germans, while scoring 37 goals and 50 assists in the meantime.
The player’s agent has revealed his admiration for the Portuguese manager. Manchester United are also interested in securing the Swede’s signature.
Mourinho’s eye for talent
The winger came on as a late substitute last week in Leipzig’s 1-0 victory over Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. His brief cameo came for praise from Mourinho.
The Spurs boss’ comments sparked a flurry of speculation regarding his interest in the player. Incidentally, in spite of Forsberg garnering enough attention from United and Everton, his manager made it a point to mention Mourinho by name.
Calling the 57-year-old a legend, he indicated that it is no surprise that Mourinho is interested in his player.
The agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, speaking on the issue, commented that Forsberg alongside Victor Lindelof are the best players in the Sweden national team. He continues to insinuate that since Mourinho has already worked with Lindelof, indicating perhaps his eye for talent.
“I’m not surprised. I can say this; everyone will soon see what will happen to Emil Forsberg.”

Mourinho also indicated his interest in having a player of such calibre in his side. He voiced the same after the loss to Leipzig.
“I want Yussuf Poulsen, I want Emil Forsberg. But they sit on their bench.”
Whether the player successfully completes a move to Tottenham or not remains to be seen.
