“Maybe come back one day”: Tottenham target drops a hint as he favours a move to Chelsea

Former Chelsea attacker Jeremie Boga to snub Tottenham in the summer

As reported by The Athletic, Sassuolo forward and Tottenham target Jeremie Boga favours a return to former club Chelsea.

Boga, an Ivory Coast international, is a product of the Chelsea youth academy. After a series of loan spells at Stade Rennais, Granada and Birmingham City, the 23-year-old left the Blues permanently in 2018 to join Sassuolo.

After a rather dull debut season in Italy, Boga has improved on his returns this time out. The forward has scored 8 goals and 4 assists in 24 Serie A appearances so far. And his performances have caught the eye of Tottenham as per a report from Calciomercato (h/t The Sun).

However, Boga is set to snub Tottenham in the summer. Instead, the 23-year-old has his sights set on a potential return to boyhood club Chelsea. (h/t The Athletic)

In an interview with The Athletic, the Ivorian said:

“When I was there, it was Willian, Hazard, Pedro. When Jose Mourinho was there, it was [Mohamed] Salah. There were a lot of good wingers. For me, it has always been if I can’t play, then I will try to go on loan or try to go somewhere to improve, then maybe come back one day.”

Need for attacking reinforcements

With Harry Kane and Son Heung-min out injured, the lack of depth in our attacking department has been brutally exposed this season. While Steven Bergwijn was signed in January, Tottenham need to bring in more reinforcements in the summer to continue challenging for the Champions League spots.

To that end, Boga would be a decent addition, considering that he can play anywhere across the frontline. However, with the 23-year-old more interested in securing a return to Chelsea, the club should swiftly turn their attention elsewhere.
