Tottenham Hotspur interested in signing former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho

According to the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle it out with three other Premer League clubs for Barcelona’s out of favour midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian is currently on loan at Bayern Munich and has registered nine goals and eight assists in 32 appearances for the German powerhouse. He is yet to nail down a starting position at the Bundesliga club.

A familiar name for Spurs fans, Coutinho has been a constant thorn in our side. During his time at Liverpool, he scored four goals and three assists against us in 14 appearances.

The 27-year-old’s move to Barcelona has not worked out as expected and is currently out of favour at the Nou Camp. So frustrated have Barcelona gotten with the Brazilian that they were happy to offload him to Bayern Munich on loan.

However, the German champions are not keen on signing the player permanently, leaving the door open for other interested parties to make their move, with Tottenham being one of them.

The path to his signature will not be straightforward, with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal also keen. The report goes on to say that, given the exorbitant price tag Barcelona have placed on him, all four clubs are only keen on a loan deal.

Regret and remorse!

The Brazilian has admitted to regretting his decision to swap Liverpool for Barcelona and is keen on a return to the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp is not interested in bringing the player back to Anfield, paving the way for other clubs to pitch in.

Coutinho’s quality on the dead ball and his ability to pick out teammates with audacious passes has seen him thrive in England. He also added to his goalscoring record in his final season and went on to score his first hat-trick against Spartak Moscow in the Champions League.

He is also at the moment a superior player to Giovani Lo Celso and is likely to be decisive behind the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min.
