Dele Alli spends night partying with football season currently suspended
Tottenham players were given a break from training following the coronavirus pandemic. Given the nature of the virus, a number of players at various clubs are currently in self isolation as per the government’s directives.
One person who is seeing things differently is Tottenham star Dele Alli. According to The Sun, Alli has spent his last two nights our partying at nightclubs. He was noticed chugging down shots and cocktails at Tape in London’s Mayfair before attending a brunch the following day.
Former Spurs star Kyle Walker was also pictured at the Mayfair. With the football season currently suspended, players have been asked to keep fit and were given individual programs. (h/t The Sun)
A hypocritical role-model?
It is disappointing to see the player out in the public especially after calls for social distancing. As a professional often in the glare of the public eye, Alli has to maintain standards and be a positive influence on the society.
There is nothing wrong in a player enjoying a weekend bender to blow off steam. However, given the current circumstances, the judgment of doing so has to be questioned.
The 23-year-old has only recently mentioned how he has had to change his lifestyle following his newfound fame and success. He spoke upon the struggles of realizing that he had to behave as a role model. His actions here seem hypocritical given the seriousness of the pandemic spreading across the world.

Alli has had a mixed season so far. In spite of enjoying a good start under Mourinho, he has been unable to perform much since the turn of the year. He has also been mired in a number of controversies on and off the pitch. His reaction to being subbed off against Leipzig and his ill-judged post on social media on the coronavirus have both not helped matters.
