Former goalkeeper Paul Robinson claims Willian would be a good signing for Tottenham

In an interview with Football Insider (h/t Football.London) former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson has insisted that Chelsea star Willian will be a good signing for our club.

Willian is in the final few months of his current contract with Chelsea. But negotiations over a new deal have stalled due to a disagreement between the player and the club over the duration of the contract. (h/t Metro)

And now, Paul Robinson has claimed that Willian would be a good addition to our club but we might have to offload some players to bring in the Chelsea winger. Speaking to Football Insider (h/t Football.London), he said:

“It would be a good signing. I think it is a player who Mourinho knows well. I would be surprised if Chelsea let him go because he is a top player.

“Spurs have a lot of attacking midfield players and he fits that bill as to what they have already got. There would have to be a few outgoings but that is a manager putting his stamp on a squad.”

Willian came close to signing for Tottenham in 2013. However, having successfully completed a medical, the Brazilian decided to make a last-minute switch to Chelsea instead. (h/t The Guardian)

Willian himself added fuel to the fire when he claimed that he would prefer to stay in London should he end up leaving Chelsea. It remains to be seen if the club pays heed to Robinson’s advice and makes a move for the Chelsea superstar this summer.
