Willian is in the final few months of his current contract with Chelsea. The Brazil international has been linked with a potential free transfer to Tottenham in the summer transfer window (h/t Express).
And the winger has fueled the speculations, claiming that he enjoys a good relationship with current Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho. Speaking to ESPN Brazil (h/t Express), Willian said:
“I got along very well with Mourinho, I learned a lot from him, and we became friends and exchanged many messages.”
It was Mourinho who signed Willian at Chelsea from under our noses back in 2013. The Brazilian has gone on to taste much success with our London rivals, but faces an uncertain future as his contract nears expiry.
Along with Tottenham, arch rivals Arsenal are also monitoring the Brazilian’s situation at Chelsea. However, it is believed that Willian’s rapport with Mourinho gives us the edge in the transfer race. (h/t Express)
The 31-year-old, though, did go on to insist that he had not been in contact with Mourinho recently.

The lack of depth in our attacking department was brutally exposed this season when a number of key players were out with injuries. So, it is of paramount importance that the club looks to add new faces to the squad before next season.
At 31, Willian might not be a long-term solution for Tottenham. But, given his proven credentials in the Premier League, the Brazilian could prove to be a decent stop-gap option for us, more so considering that he will cost us nothing. It remains to be seen if the club do launch a move to sign the Chelsea star.
