Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust sends Daniel Levy a message

According to Football.london, the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust (THST) has called upon club chairman Daniel Levy to make a telling personal contribution to the non-playing staff employed by the club.

The lack of football and ceasing of the club’s activities have put Tottenham Hotspur in a tough spot. The situation has forced club chairman Daniel Levy to make a difficult decision.

The club has taken the decision to reduce the remuneration of all 550 non-playing directors and employees for April and May. This has been done by a margin of 20%, by utilizing the Government’s furlough scheme where appropriate.

The decision has been met with criticism by fans and other parties (h/t The Sun). To compound the problem for Levy, it was revealed that he took home a salary of £7million over the past year, with £3million of it a bonus.

Not as straightforward as it seems

Apart from just Levy, THST has also called upon players to make a telling contribution. The organization is aware that the salaries of players cannot be altered without discussions with the PFA, LMA and the respective unions. (h/t Football.london)

The statement also goes on to reveal that the club cannot make a decision on reducing the wages of players without the above-mentioned organizations. It also goes on to ask the PFA and the LMA to submit to meaningful dialogue in the coming days. (h/t Football.london)

The players earn a huge amount unlike the other employees at the club. THST has called upon the stars to make a voluntary contribution to help the vulnerable sections soldier through the crisis. (h/t Football.london)

“And there is nothing to stop the club’s directors, including the chairman, making a further personal contribution on top of their 20 per cent wage cuts.”

These comments were made directly to the club and the plan is backed completely by the Spurs faithful.
