Gabriel Magalhaes happy at current club amid Tottenham interest
Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes insists he is happy at Lille despite links to other clubs (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Tottenham have been previously linked with the Brazilian, while fellow Premier League side Everton are also interested in the Brazilian, according to Sky Sports (h/t Football.london).
The 22-year-old is one of the rising stars in the Ligue 1 outfit and has made 52 appearances for Les Dogues.
However, the youngster isn’t thinking of a move away from Lille yet. The 22-year-old was speaking to France Football (h/t Liverpool Echo) and confirmed he was receiving updates about a move away from close people:
“I can see them, yes. Every day, my friends send me things: clubs, lots of clubs. I’m happy because my work, and everything I’ve done, is rewarded. It’s not only good for me; it’s good for other people around me.”
However, Magalhaes added that he is happy at Lille and isn’t sure what the future holds for him (h/t Liverpool Echo).
“But I’m happy in Lille; I’m very, very happy at the club. I love this club. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but the objective is to bring LOSC back into the Champions League again.”
Tottenham need another centre-back
Toby Alderweireld might have extended his stay at the club, but we still need a fresh face or two in the heart of the defence.
Jan Vertonghen has struggled for form and is out of a contract once the campaign ends. Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez have done well in patches under Jose Mourinho, but we haven’t seen enough of Juan Foyth too.
Spurs need a centre-back for the future and Magalhaes could be just that. The 22-year-old could cost around £30million (h/t Football.london) and is contracted with the Ligue 1 side till 2023.
