Peter Crouch labels Sol Campbell as the worst trainer he came across
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Peter Crouch has revealed that Sol Campbell was the worst trainer he has come across during his career (h/t Daily Mail).
Crouch was answering fan questions in his weekly column for the Daily Mail. One of the questions posted to the former England international was who were the best and the worst trainers he had come across in his career.
And Crouch went on to label former Tottenham man Gareth Bale as one of the best, along with current Chelsea manager Frank Lampard (h/t Daily Mail).
When it came to the second part of the question, there were no ties, as Crouchie picked Sol Campbell to be the worst he had trained with (h/t Daily Mail).
Crouch crossed paths with Campbell at Tottenham as the latter was our club captain at the time the former came through the youth ranks. The pair would later reunite at Portsmouth towards the end of Campbell’s career.
“The worst has to be Sol Campbell at Portsmouth. He had reached the end of his career by then and he’d probably lost some of his enthusiasm.”
Although, Crouch did add later that while Campbell didn’t train as hard at Portsmouth, his performances weren’t affected by that. The former striker also claimed that during the pair’s spell at Tottenham, when Crouch was still a youngster, Campbell was one of the best trainers (h/t Daily Mail).

It is nice to see Bale being named the best trainer by Crouch, especially considering how his attitude and professionalism has been questioned at Real Madrid of late. As far as Campbell is concerned, well, meh! Judas.
