Tottenham in constant contact with £52m-rated Issa Diop
Tottenham Hotspur are in ‘constant contact’ with West Ham United star Issa Diop, who is valued at £52m by the Hammers. This claim comes from French outlet Foot Mercato (h/t Daily Star).
Diop joined West Ham United from Toulouse in 2018. The Frenchman has become one of the most reliable young defenders in the Premier League. While the Hammers have endured a difficult season, Diop has been one of their strongest performers.
Our manager Jose Mourinho is a known admirer of the 23-year-old Diop. The Portuguese tactician had praised the Frenchman effusively while he was still in charge at Manchester United (h/t Daily Star).

And as per the report, Tottenham have been in ‘constant contact’ with Diop’s representatives over the possibility of a summer move.
It is no secret that our defence has been all over the place this season. Davinson Sanchez hasn’t been consistent enough, while Jan Vertonghen has shown signs of age catching up with him. Moreover, the Belgian is out of contract at the end of the season.

So it is a no-brainer that we need a new centre-back heading into the new season. And Diop, given his performances over the past couple of seasons at West Ham, would be a solid addition to our ranks.
Diop though, is unlikely to come cheaply. The report adds that the player is valued at £52m. However, such a transfer fee could prove to be a deterrent for our club, with finances likely to be affected negatively by the coronavirus crisis.
