Tottenham in with a chance to sign Kalidou Koulibaly reckons Gianluca Di Marzio

Tottenham Hotspur have been backed to land Napoli’s Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly in the summer by reputed journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t Daily Star).

Koulibaly, in recent years, has established himself as one of the most reliable centre-backs in Europe. And, Di Marzio reckons that he could be on the move this summer, with Premier League a likely destination (h/t Daily Star).

“I think Koulibaly will leave Napoli this summer. Only last summer, Napoli signed Kostas Manolas who is a similar player to Koulibaly. And then they got another defender in, Amir Rrahmani from Verona.”

In addition, Di Marzio has backed Tottenham to land Koulibaly. The journalist believes that our club has great relations with the player’s agents. This puts us in good stead in the race to land the Senegalese man-mountain in the summer transfer window (h/t Daily Star).

“Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly could be one of their (Tottenham) most important targets. There is a very good feeling between his agents and the Tottenham chairman.”

Reports linking Spurs with a move for Koulibaly emerged during January. The 28-year-old would be a great addition to our defence that has struggled in the 2019/20 campaign.

Moreover, with Jan Vertonghen’s departure looking extremely likely, a seasoned campaigner with proven pedigree like Koulibaly would be the right man to replace the Belgian ace.

Koulibaly has endured an injury-riddled 2019/20 season. The 28-year-old has made just 15 Serie A appearances this term.

In addition, Di Marzio also claims that Everton are also interested in the Senegalese international. Whereas Manchester United are long-term admirers of the defender (h/t Daily Star). It will be interesting to see how this transfer story develops in the coming weeks.
