Meunier would be a quality addition for Tottenham

Thomas Meunier is attracted to the prospect of joining Tottenham claims Kaveh Solhekol

According to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol, Tottenham Hotspur are in with a chance to sign PSG right-back Thomas Meunier, as the Belgian is attracted by the prospect of playing under Jose Mourinho.

Meunier is in the final few days of his current contract with PSG. His potential availability on a free transfer has led to interest from a host of clubs, including Tottenham.

But, Tottenham seem to have edge in the race to sign the 28-year-old Belgian now, after it emerged that our manager Jose Mourinho had spoken to the defender personally.

And Solhekol claims that the Belgian international is attracted to the prospect of playing under the Portuguese. He could, hence, join Tottenham, provided the right terms are offered.

“The only problem for Spurs is lots of other clubs want the Belgium international. Having said that, Meunier is attracted by the prospect of playing in London for Jose Mourinho. And if he’s offered the right terms, we could well see him playing for Spurs next season.”

This ought to come as a huge boost for our club in pursuit of Meunier. At 28, the defender has accrued plenty of experience and has still plenty left to offer at the highest level. In addition, he is a regular for Belgium, who are the No.1 ranked team in the world. Therefore, the 28-year-old would be a quality addition to our ranks.

Moreover, Serge Aurier is the only out-and-out right-back in the squad after the club loaned out Kyle Walker-Peters in the January transfer window. Hence, adding Meunier would bring some much-needed depth and quality to a position that has been a problem under Mourinho.
