Twitter reacts on the 21st anniversary of Ledley King’s debut
The career of Ledley King will always carry an air of ‘what if’ around it. He debuted as a promising 18-year-old at Anfield in a 3-2 loss.
Initially starting out as a midfielder, he cemented his place in the side with a commanding performance against the same opposition in a 2-1 victory the following year. A month later he would go on to score his first goal for the club against Bradford City within the first ten seconds.
That goal would go on to be the fastest goal in the top flight for the next 18 years. Injuries, however, prevented what could have been a long and successful career.
In a career that spanned a decade and a half, he would make just 268 appearances for us while registering 10 goals and two assists. It is often a topic of discussion among fans as to what the player could have become.
On the 21st anniversary of his debut, Spurs fans took to Twitter to express themselves regarding the defender. We take a look at a few of them below.
