Tottenham fans react to interest in Real Madrid defender Sergio Reguilon
Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon, who is currently on loan at Sevilla, according to reports in Spain (h/t Ricky Sacks).
Reguilon is a product of the Real Madrid academy. The left-back broke into the first-team in 2018/19, but found game time hard to come by once Zinedine Zidane returned. As a result, Los Blancos loaned him out to Sevilla last summer, where he has thrived.
The 23-year-old Spanish has scored one goal and assisted four more in 22 La Liga matches this season. On the back of his performances, Reguilon earned a call-up to the Spanish national team last October, but did not make his debut. Reguilon’s form has led to serious interest in him from a number of clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain.
Danny Rose left Tottenham on loan in January. The England international is expected to be offloaded permanently this summer. This would leave our club with Ben Davies and young Ryan Sessegnon as the only two left-backs in the squad. But with the latter seen as more of an attacking option, adding another left-back would be a good move by the club.
