Kevin Phillips has suggested Tottenham to sell Juan Foyth due to his high wages
Former England and Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips has tipped Tottenham to sell Juan Foyth this summer. This is owing to the fact that the Argentine international is on higher wages than Japhet Tanganga in spite of being behind him in the pecking order. (Football Insider h/t Express).
“Whatever money they can get for Foyth will help Spurs for future transfers.”
Foyth moved to Tottenham Hotspur in 2017. A regular for the Argentine Under-20 side, he has stepped up impressively for the senior team.
His fortunes at Spurs, however, have lacked the same impressive streak. Approaching the end of his third season in North London, he is yet to cement a place in our senior side and has made just 32 appearances, scoring one goal.
The emergence of Tanganga has pushed him further down the pecking order in North London. Capable of playing as a centre-back and full-back positions, the Spurs academy graduate is currently only being paid £1,000-a-week.
With Foyth falling behind the youngster at the club, Phillips has tipped Spurs to cut their losses on the Argentine star. (h/t Express)
Tottenham are in talks with Tanganga over a new deal and according to the Daily Mail (h/t Express), will see his wages increase to around £15,000 per week. Also included is the promise of another new contract and pay rise once he makes a certain number of first-team appearances.

Foyth has had a season to forget. Injuries have not helped matters but neither has he been able to impress new manager Jose Mourinho. His future was up in the air last January and that could be the case again in the summer.
The 22-year-old has won nine caps for the Argentinian national side. He was a part of his country’s Copa America 2019 squad that finished third in the tournament.
